Afrobeat Artist Poppastep Drops a Soulful New Track, “Hard Day”
Afrobeat artist Poppastep is back with a new track that speaks to the working soul. Titled “Hard Day,” this powerful release blends Afrobeat rhythms with a message of relaxation and inspiration. After watching his parents and grandparents work tirelessly, Poppastep turned that experience into a song designed to help listeners decompress and celebrate life — even when times are tough.
“Watching my grandmother, my mother, and father work so hard with so little inspired me to write this. I wanted to give people a way to release their tension,” says Poppastep.

Self-Produced with Guest Vocals
“Hard Day” was produced, written, and arranged by Poppastep. In addition, the track features guest vocals from Hneef, which bring extra warmth and soulful expression to the already vibrant sound.
“This is more in the Afrobeat vein, but I don’t necessarily stick to any genre,” he explains. “I follow my inspiration — sometimes funk, ballad, Hip-Hop — it all depends.”
The production took place in New York City, giving the track a unique multicultural edge rooted in Afrobeat tradition.
An Invitation to Let Go
The message behind the song is clear and direct:
“Relax. Forget about work and responsibilities in this moment. Enjoy yourself.”
Whether you’ve just clocked out or need motivation to keep going, “Hard Day” offers a moment of self-reflection and emotional release. As a result, listeners are left feeling lighter and more grounded.
Influences and Style
Poppastep’s sound is shaped by iconic artists such as James Brown, Rick James, Ohio Players, Commodores, and Nina Simone. Drawing from Motown, funk, and the Sound of Philly, his music blends emotional depth with undeniable groove.
“My previous track was funkier, and I’ll be doing more of that,” he adds. “But this time the Afrobeat vibe took the lead.”

What’s Next for Poppastep?
While a music video is currently in production (expected in two weeks), Poppastep isn’t hitting the road just yet. His production calendar remains full, but fans can still look forward to two upcoming singles, including a collaboration with his group, Ablaze.
“The most rewarding moment is knowing that your music touches someone. I’ve faced the usual challenges — the will to keep going, self-belief. But I always understood: most people who try to tear you down have nothing. That inspires me to work harder.”
